PERRY FARRELL Planning Summer Arrival For New Band
May 16, 2006Launch Radio Networks reports: Ex-JANE'S ADDICTION frontman Perry Farrell is hoping to release the debut album from his new band, SATELLITE PARTY, this summer, according to Billboard.com. The self-titled disc will feature guest appearances from RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS bassist Flea and guitarist John Frusciante, as well as BLACK EYED PEAS vocalist Fergie, NEW ORDER bassist Peter Hook and Farrell's wife, Etty. The group also features former EXTREME guitarist Nuno Bettencourt.
SATELLITE PARTY made its live debut at last year's Lollapalooza festival in Chicago, with tentative plans to appear at this August's event as well.
Farrell described the group as a "hybrid," adding, "We combine some rock elements and elements of choir and a big healthy dose of rock'n'roll. It is lush and beautiful and sexy and loaded with energy."
A single called "Dogstar" is expected to surface before the album's release, with Farrell saying that the group is close to signing a major record deal.
The singer also told Billboard that a JANE'S ADDICTION boxed set is in the works, along with DVD releases of Farrell's 1989 short film, "Soul Kiss", and 1993 movie "Gift".
